Hi friends! My name is Emily Hoffman. I am a wife, mom, nurse, homemaker, and now a super-enthusiastic Marquette Method Instructor. I graduated from the School of Nursing at the University of Texas (Hook ‘em Horns!) and have specialized in women’s health ever since.

My career first led me to work on a perinatal unit, focusing primarily on high-risk pregnancies and for complications experienced by some postpartum women. I later moved to a labor and delivery (L&D) unit—nursing work that I love and still practice today. Caring for women and families in the midst of their greatest joys and greatest sorrows lit a passion within me for the ever-important (and too often underappreciated) field of women’s health.

My Natural Family Planning Journey

Inspired both by the symphony of hormones at play all around me at work and a deep desire to understand my own biology as a single woman, I first learned a cervical mucus method of NFP in 2018. I loved all the insights NFP brought me to understand my own body. I couldn’t help but talk about it with everyone I knew.

When it came time to put my studies into practice, however, my husband and I decided to learn the Marquette Method of NFP. We learned the method while we were engaged, in 2020. I was primarily drawn to the clarity and objectivity of the data. I felt huge relief that I would not be the sole interpreter of our combined fertility.

Since then, we have used the Marquette Method successfully through many life events, including: international travel with major time zone changes, night shifts, several moves, early marriage, and while postpartum and breastfeeding.

I know first-hand the wild ride women’s hormones can take during life’s twists and turns—particularly during those early postpartum months. I am so grateful for the validation and flexibility the protocols have provided through the ever-changing seasons of our early marriage and childbearing years.

With the help of NFP and God’s never-ending generosity, our family has grown. We have two beautiful children, Maggie & Henry, with one more on the way. It has been a grand adventure. 

Through the lens of both motherhood and my nursing career, I am more convinced than ever that every woman is fascinating, beautiful, resilient and truly unique.
